Pretzel Day

I love being in charge of Teacher Appreciation at my local elementary school.  Next week I am doing a "Pretzel Bar" for the teachers.  We'll have a variety of pretzel mixes for the teachers to munch on and a playful poem to tie it all together.

Here's the poem I wrote to go with the pretzel theme:

Here are the recipes I am using:

Spicy Pretzels
5 oz (4 cups) mini pretzels
2 tsp melted butter
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp garlic powder w/parsley
1 tsp salt (I will leave it out – too much salt for me)
350 degrees.  Toss pretzels with butter and spread in pan.  Bake for 5 minutes.  Add rest of ingredients and toss.   Bake for 2 more minutes.  Let cool before storing in airtight container.

Cinnamon Super Pretzels
2/3 c. canola oil
½ c. sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1 lb pretzels
300 degrees.  30 minutes.  Stir twice.  Let cool before storing in airtight container.

Taco Pretzels
4 c pretzels
½ c canola oil
3 tsp taco seasoning
½ tsp garlic powder
Mix all together in bowl and then put on cookies sheet.  Cook 60-70 minutes at 200 degrees.  Stir every 20 minutes.  Let cool before storing in airtight container.

Sweet Pretzels
5 Cups Rice Chex
4 Cups Pretzels
1 Cup Milk Chocolate Chips
1/2 Peanut Butter
1/2 Cup Unsalted Butter
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
2 Cups Powdered Sugar
Pour the rice chex and pretzels into a large bowl. Add the sugar to a large freezer bag and line a cookie sheet with wax paper. Set everything aside. Add the chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter to a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 1 minute, stir. Return to the microwave in 30 second intervals until mixture is smooth, then add the vanilla. Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the chex and pretzels and stir until well combined. Add the mixture to your freezer bag and shake well. Pour the mixture onto your lined cookie sheet and allow to cool completely.

Chocolate Pretzels
1 bag pretzel sticks
12 oz bag white chocolate melts
Sprinkles

Put pretzel sticks in a single layer on a wax paper covered cookie sheet.  Melt white chocolate in microwave.  Use a ziplock bag with a little hole cut in the corner or a spoon to drizzle chocolate over the pretzels.  Quickly put sprinkles on so they stick to the chocolate.  Let cool in fridge until chocolate is hardened.
